Veena is a very divine instrument, plus there is mention about the Veena even in Vedic times and the Hindu scriptures.. For e.g. Narada Muni is supposed to have played the Veena. The Goddess of Learning Saraswathi has the Veena in hand, hence the name 'Saraswathi Veena'.
